The Tale of The Sun & Moons

The Ascension of Solaria and Lunaria

(circa 3,500 BE, twilight of the Era of Concord)

In the ancient twilight of Luminaria, before the sun’s rise or the moons’ grace, the world slumbered in perpetual dusk. For fifteen thousand years, its skies shimmered with violet haze and drifting starlight, and bioluminescent groves bathed the land in ghostly glows. Life thrived in this mystical stillness, guided by leylines and ancestral magic, but always yearning for something more.

In the final centuries of the First Age's harmony, when elder races flourished and the world knew its most delicate balance, two elven sisters were born in a sacred glade: Aria and Lyra. The air shimmered on the day of their birth, a rare celestial alignment casting halos of light across the trees. They were said to be the children of prophecy, woven from starlight and purpose.

Aria burned with radiant joy and a love for all growing things. She brought warmth to the soil, called forth harvests, and summoned vibrant skies. Lyra moved with quiet grace, understanding the hidden rhythms of nature. Her presence brought stillness, taught the necessity of decay, and gave voice to the night winds.

Together, they walked Luminaria as healers and guides, restoring fractured lands and soothing ancient spirits. But in their dreams, a vision lingered: a looming rupture in the fabric of reality, a coming chaos that threatened to plunge the world into eternal imbalance. They knew the land was not yet ready for such a wound. To withstand it, the world needed anchors, celestial guardians to divide the day and watch the night.

At the height of a final convergence of stars, Aria and Lyra returned to the grove of their birth. There, hand in hand, they offered themselves to the world. Their magic lifted into the heavens, unraveling their mortal forms into celestial light.

Aria became Solaria, the Sun Incarnate. Her essence rose in a wave of golden brilliance, igniting the first sunrise. Her light would burn away the mist and bring clarity to the world, marking the beginning of each day with hope and warmth.

Lyra became Lunaria, the Moon’s Embrace. But hers was not one form. To ensure all corners of Luminaria would be watched in the dark, she split her soul into three luminous moons. Each orb reflects a part of her spirit: the full moon of wisdom, the waxing moon of growth, and the waning moon of memory. They move across the sky in eternal rhythm, casting light on a sleeping world.

From that moment on, day and night began. The celestial dance of Solaria and Lunaria became the heartbeat of the world. The Races of Luminaria, awestruck by this transformation, offered praise and wove their worship into every ritual of light and shadow.

Their sacrifice did not stop the Rift from opening in time, but it steadied the world enough to survive it. To this day, dawn and dusk are moments of reverence, when Solaria and Lunaria pass one another in the sk, sisters still watching over the world they once walked.
